On January 20th, 2014 our comrade Mario Lopez was arrested while heappeared in court, as he does every week, to sign in as part of the conditions imposed for his release on bail. At first he was informed that the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic was demanding his presence in order to ask him questions about an ongoing investigation. After being questioned he was notified that he would be arrested for a warrant for Violation of Federal Law of Firearms and Explosives for the events of June 27, 2012 (when Mario was first imprisoned:

He was transferred to the Eastern Penitentiary in Mexico City. At this
time this is all the information we have.
Mario’s arrest takes place within the context of a witch-hunt of anarchists by the Mexican government. We have little doubt that our comrade, now in jail, will face more accusations by the state in an attempt to frame him. Persecution against anarchism continues, and for that reason it’s more important than ever to strengthen our solidarity.
