Running Down The Walls (and up the Frome!)

SA events, soldarity

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Running Down The Walls, a yearly prisoner support and solidarity event. Initiated in 1999 by the Anarchist Black Cross network, this annual 5K run/walk/roll event is to show solidarity and raise funds for prisoners. Each year, incarcerated comrades participate by running inside prison. This event brings us closer together, strengthens our bonds, and lets people behind bars know they are not forgotten!

Anarchist prisoner Toby Shone will be running 5K inside HMP Garth. He says of the event:

“It promotes physical training and fitness with a mindset of solidarity and struggle. These kind of events give us strength and development. A huge shout out to all those taking part.”

Let’s run with him and alongside prisoners of the state everywhere.

Bristol ABC and Punch Up FTP encourage you to join this year’s Running Down The Walls event, the first that we know of in Bristol. Let’s run, walk, cycle or skate with our imprisoned comrades and prison abolition in our hearts and minds!

Details:

Sunday 15th September 2024. Meet 11am Eastville Park lake (M32 end) for warm ups and going together.
Cheerleaders and supporters also welcome!
Bring flags, placards, banners, snacks, drinks and comrades.

Please remember to support prisoners in any way you can. We have a lot of really useful resources as well as contacts for writing to prisoners on our prisoners page.
