Help with Natasha’s legal costs!

An urgent fundraiser from the Free Sven and Natasha support group.

In July 2012 Sven and Natasha were raided and arrested in Amsterdam under a European arrest warrant. They were charged with ‘conspiracy to blackmail’ in relation to Huntingdon Life Sciences (recently rebranded as Envigo). HLS is Europe’s largest animal testing laboratory and is the most notorious and protested lab in history. The UK government has gone to extraordinary lengths to stop people protesting against HLS, with increasing targeting and repression of campaigners. Sven and Natasha are waiting to go to trial in the UK and face up to 14 years in prison.

Natasha has been living in Holland for over 5 years and the actions she’s accused of participating in did not take place in the UK. But, if she’s convicted and sent to prison in the UK, she will be forced to serve the entire sentence there. Sven will be allowed to transfer back to Holland, giving him many more rights and benefits.

Following legal advice, Natasha will soon apply for a court hearing to argue that she should have the same rights as Sven to return to Holland.

The court hearing costs about €300 and if Natasha loses the case, she will have to pay another €1000 as well.

We strongly believe that rights should not only be given to people who can afford to fight for them in the legal system. Sven and Natasha are struggling financially with this complicated and stressful legal case and cannot afford this hearing without our help.

Please support Natasha and donate towards the cost of the hearing. It’s important that we stand together against political repression and let Sven and Natasha know they’re not alone. Solidarity is our strongest weapon for building resilience and effective resistance.

If Natasha wins the hearing, the extra donations received will go towards the ongoing support campaign for her and Sven.
